BlackBerry App world embraces the CTIA’s app ranking

Research In Motion (NASDAQ: RIMM) introduced a system of rating application store Blackberry App world based on app rating system introduced by the CTIA and the Entertainment Software Rating Board earlier this week.

Applications in specific categories, including action and arcade games, social networking and messaging apps, film and TV themes and entertainment apps, are automatically granted a teen rating (intended for users 13 or older).

“Content rating system we’ve planned out on the basis of input from consumers, carriers, and our developer partners to ensure that we have implemented a content rating system helps parents control what type of content that their children have access to,” wrote Alex Kinsella, product manager for BlackBerry App world, BlackBerry Developer Blog.
